During her overseas work experience, she learned that dialogue is key to a better understanding of issues and finding solutions. Thus, after retiring from the United States Government job, she chose to settle in progressive Madison. Through A Place To Be, she provides an opportunity for the community to network and engage in constructive discussions on important issues.

A Place To Be contributes and supports local community organizations. Cheema has served as a board member of the Marquette Neighborhood Association and the Greater Williamson Area Business Association (GWABA).
